| 内容記述 | 1892年（明治25）に浄土宗尼僧であった輪島聞声（わじまもんじょう）が東京小石川の伝通院（浄土宗寺院）境内に「淑徳女学校」を設立した。開校時点の生徒数は，わずかに5人しかおらず，私塾ともいえる規模であったが大きな経営の危機を乗り越え，学生数を順調に伸ばし次第に名声を高めていった。開校から10年足らずの期間で発展を遂げ，高い名声を得て，明治30年代後半にはさらに大きく発展した。学校の動向は，何度も新聞紙面に取り上げられるほど注目されるようになった。 発展した要因は，いくつか考えられる。ここでは，大きな支えとなった輪島聞声が設立した淑徳婦人会の活動を取り上げる。本稿では，淑徳女学校の隆盛を支え，2回結成された淑徳婦人会の発起人やその活動の変遷をたどるとともに淑徳婦人会の実態を明確にすることを目指した。 |

| 内容記述 | Wajima Monjo established the Shukutoku girls’school on the grounds of Denzu-in, Jodo Shu temple in Koishikawa, Tokyo in 1892, the twenty-fifth year of the Meiji Era. In the beginning, the school had just five students. Though it was a private school, there were numerous business challenges that had to be addressed. However, Wajima Monjo overcame the situation and the number of students steadily increased as the school built a good reputation within the first ten years. The school saw a lot of growth in the latter half of the thirtieth year of the Meiji Era. Information about the school trend was frequently published in newspapers and this caught the attention of people. There are several elements that led to the advancement of the school.I will discuss activities of the Shukutoku Women’s Society, which was built and supported by Wajima Monjo. I will also aim to clarify who are the originators of the Shukutoku Women’s Society which was formed two times and what are the transition of activities and the current situation of the society. |
