In the United States, on the other hand, they have been drawing the continuous interest of historians for these twenty years. The aims of this article are the following two points. One is to analyze the current status of the recent studies on anti-vivisection movement in the U.S. and the other is to propose new perspectives for the further studies.\nBy examining current status of articles and books written on the topic for the last twenty years, it has been found that the topic has been playing an important role to analyze histories in the U.S., especially from the viewpoint of gender. It should be also, however, suggested that the studies must be done from the following two points. Firstly, the gender issues the movement brought are needed to examine as influenced phenomena by modern medical science, which emerged in the late 19th century.
